Historically, the word “Reiki” is derived from 2 Japanese words “Rei” which means “God’s wisdom or higher power” and “Ki” which means “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “Spiritually guided life force energy”. Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator discovered Reiki (ancient sounds and symbols that are linked directly to human body and nervous system, which activates the universal life energy for healing) after 21 days of medication, fasting and prayer on Mount Kurama. In April 1922 he founded the first Usui Reiki Healing Center. Hawayo Takata, a student of Mikao Usui brought Reiki to the USA in early 1990’s, and traveled widely teaching Reiki.

In current lifestyle, where exercise, diet, yoga and meditation are given high importance for stress reduction, relaxation and healthy living, Reiki and IET acts integrally with all forms of alternate therapies. Reiki and IET harmonize energies that may normally be incomplete and, therefore enhance functioning of our body.
